Italian-born Vienna-based organist, harpsichordist and conductor Davide Mariano (b. 1988) is praised by the critique for his ability to “wow the audience” (Bachtrack) with his “powerful and emotionally charged executions […] demonstrating the thought put into each note” (The Observer).

Performing a multitude of programs covering the entire organ repertoire, Mariano has appeared as an organ soloist in the most prestigious concert halls and cathedrals in Europe, America, and Japan, including the Musikverein in Vienna, Konzerthaus in Vienna, Mariinksy Theatre in St. Petersburg, Konzerthaus Berlin, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, Église de la Madeleine in Paris, Ateneul Român in Bucarest, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Kyoto Concert Hall, The Symphony Hall in Osaka, and The Cleveland Museum of Art, as well as in the US universities in Kansas, Mississippi and Louisiana and for festivals in Rome, Stuttgart, Merseburg, Toulouse, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Copenhagen, and Tel Aviv.

Davide Mariano held the position of organist in residence at the Sapporo Concert Hall “Kitara” (Japan) during the concert season 2016/17 and then at the Saint Louis Cathedral in New Orleans (USA) until 2018. He has gained prizes in some of the most prestigious international organ competitions, e.g. in St Albans (2nd prize in the interpretation category and the “Peter Hurford Bach Prize”), Amsterdam and Kaliningrad.  

Both as a soloist on organ, harpsichord, and piano and as a continuo and an orchestra player, Mariano has collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchester Wiener Akademie, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Musica Angelica Los Angeles, and Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, working with conductors such as D. Gatti, M. Pommer, C. M. Prieto, R. Paternostro, G. Sabbatini, M. Haselböck, and T. Otaka. He made his debut as a conductor with the Orchester Wiener Akademie for the "Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern" festival in Germany in 2019. In 2023 he was conductor at the harpsichord in the opera "Marc'Antonio e Cleopatra" by J. A. Hasse for the "Teatro Barocco" (superintendent B. Bienert) at Stift Göttweig (Austria), with extraordinary success of audiences and critics.

Davide Mariano has held organ masterclasses in Japan, for the American Guild of Organists in the United States, in Italian Music Conservatories, and at the Universitatea de Vest in Timișoara. Since 2019 he has been teaching Organ at various Music Conservatories in Italy and since 2023 he has been professor of Organ at the State Music Conservatory "Jacopo Tomadini" in Udine.

At the young age of nineteen Mariano obtained a diploma in Organ and organ composition and later a Master in Organ, both with distinction, under Francesco Di Lernia at the State Music Conservatory in his hometown Campobasso (Italy). At the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW) he earned with unanimous distinction and the Honorary prize of the University the organ and harpsichord Master’s in the classes of Martin Haselböck and Gordon Murray. After a postgraduate study at the National Conservatory in Paris (CNSMDP) under Michel Bouvard, Olivier Latry, and Louis Robilliard, he finally obtained the “Diplome d’Artiste Interprète” in organ, specializing in the French repertoire. He also earned a Bachelor’s in conducting at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz under Georg Leopold and attended a six-month course on Italian opera conducting with Giancarlo Andretta at the Teatro Eden in Treviso. A postgraduate study in Historical Performance Practice under Reinhard Goebel at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and a Master's degree in Organ Improvisation under Jürgen Essl at the University of Music in Stuttgart complete his training.

Three CDs, live recordings for MDR, ORF-Ö1, Radio Stephansdom radios and for ORF, 3SAT and ARTE televisions ARTE are a further documentation of his musical activities.
